Childhood and Education

Elliot was adopted by Charles Elliott and Toni Jordan after being born on July 6, 1971. He had been given up for adoption by his biological mother.

He grew up in Los Angeles and went to Loyola High School with his adoptive family. The University of California awarded him a degree in English literature, and the Columbia School of Journalism granted him a master’s degree in journalism.

He had planned to join the men’s water polo squad as a bachelor’s student. But he ultimately found employment at The Daily Nexus, the campus newspaper.

After receiving his master’s degree, he resumed his career in journalism and started working as a stringer for the Santa Barbara News-Press.

The California native has gained expertise as a member of the production teams at 20th Century Fox and Galaxy Productions.

after graduating, I worked for ESPN

Elliott covered the NFL, golf, and adventure sports for Sports Illustrated magazine after graduating. It’s fair to assume that his six years of experience at the magazine contributed to his ability to land a job at ESPN, a sports-focused channel.

ESPN hired him in 2004. He began by participating in panels and acting as a guest co-host for shows like Around the Horn, Jim Rome Is Burning, and ESPN2. After hosting the program Classic Now for a year, he then made contributions to its magazine and website.

He and Hannah Storm have co-hosted SportsCenter since 2008.

His efforts at NBC and ABC News

In March 2011, Elliott departed ESPN to work as the Good Morning America host for ABC News. For the channel, he covered significant events like Hurricane Sandy, the Joplin tornado, the Boston Marathon bombing, and President Obama’s reelection in 2012.

His time at ABC News was brief because, following a dispute over the contract, he moved to NBC Sports. Lara Spencer, a sports analyst who made $1.2 million annually, requested the corporation pay her $10 million annually after she signed a multi-year contract.

Elliot left ABC for NBC with a long-term contract that paid him $4 million annually, plus production deals, after receiving a $5 million offer from ABC to stay with the show.

He started off with NBC Sports and eventually moved over to Today as a sports correspondent.

He only worked for the media company for roughly a year and a half. Due to insufficient air time, he quit in December 2015.

Why Was He Fired by CBS News?

In March 2016, Elliot joined another major media organization, CBS News, following his abrupt exit from NBC. He acted as the channel’s chief anchor for CBSN, its online news service.

He abruptly revealed on-air in February 2017 that he will leave the program and return to CBS News in a bigger capacity. He apparently received a promotion to field correspondent from an executive.

However, CBS management did not anticipate his declaration because they were not aware of such intentions. Even Page Six was informed by a source that the leak showed Elliot’s poor judgment.

Following the comment, Elliot was relieved of his duties and sacked on February 13, 2017.

Josh Elliot: What Is He Doing Now?

The television journalist appears to be taking a sabbatical from all of his jobs. He has not been active on his social media accounts and is not affiliated with any media outlets.

With the wealth he has accumulated through his million-dollar jobs, he is probably enjoying his marriage to Liz Cho and his children. He has a $5 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

In 2018, not long after being fired from CBS News, he found work as the host of Nat Geo’s four-night live event Yellowstone Live. He hasn’t said anything about his professional activities since then.
