Tashera Simmons, DMX’s ex-wife Before Her 50th Birthday, She Gives Thanks to God – A Look at Her Life and Relationship with DMX

Tashera Simmons, DMX’s ex-wife, will celebrate her 50th birthday on April 10. She wrote a beautiful essay prior to the important day, reflecting on her life and expressing her thankfulness for the life she had.

On April 1, Simmons shared a cheerful snapshot of herself dressed in a floral dress on Instagram. She also expressed her thankfulness for her youth, good health, and the safety of her children.

“I’ve learned so many valuable life lessons that I’ll never forget. So much development! So much knowledge. So much trust!” Wives Confidential’s starter wrote.

On April 10, 1971, Simmons was born. At the age of 11, she met her rapper ex-husband, DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons. They were both reared in Yonkers, New York, and began dating when she turned 18.

The pair tied the knot in 1999 and has four children together. This marriage, however, did not turn out to be a happy one. From 1998 to 2014, the pair were married for over a decade, but only Tashera took her vows seriously.

Relationship between Tashera Simmons and DMX

DMX was the more famous of the two during their marriage, but not always for the right reasons. Despite gaining true superstardom in the 1990s with chart-topping albums and Grammy nominations, the rapper was making headlines for bad conduct like drug and weapon possession, animal cruelty, and driving while intoxicated, to name a few.

He spent decades in and out of slammers, and Simmons was there for him until she couldn’t take it any longer.

She split up with DMX in 2010 after he was arrested three times that year.

Simmons’ criminal tendencies, however, were not the only factor that pushed him over the brink.

DMX had adulterous affairs with other women and fathered children during his marriage. Simmons felt humiliated by this.

On a reality show, Simmons requested a divorce.

Following their split, the couple appeared on VH1’s Couples Therapy to work with psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman to heal their already destroyed relationship. However, as each episode progressed, it became clear that their relationship was no longer salvageable.

DMX not only disrespected his wife in front of the cameras by ranting and cursing at her, but he also admitted in a fit of passion that he never intended to marry.

Simmons had finally reached her breaking point and wanted a divorce at the season finale. They actually split, despite the fact that people initially thought it was manufactured.

The reality star revealed her decision in an interview with Essence.

DMX’s life spiraled even further as Simmons was getting her life together.

Simmons wrote a book called “You Think You Know, You Have No Idea” after the divorce to record her tumultuous marriage with DMX and hosted a podcast called “Freedom of Truth” where she and her guests shared personal tales to inspire others.

In the meantime, DMX’s life began to spiral out of control. He went on to have 15 children with several women before declaring bankruptcy due to unpaid child support. While battling substance problems, he was sentenced to one year in jail for tax evasion in 2018.

According to TMZ, the rapper was transported to the hospital on April 2, 2021, after suffering from a narcotic overdose. According to sources close to the artist, the overdose apparently caused a heart attack, and he is currently in a vegetative state. Doctors have informed his family that he may not survive.
