Maxim Dadashev is a Russian junior professional boxer  He inaugurated his boxing at the age of 10. He was ranked the 10th on the ESPEN top view list at the end of 2017 following a standout amateur career in which he went 281-20 and was a silver medalist at the 2008 junior championship.

Professional career

Trained by previous world champion Buddy McGirt in Oxnard, California, Dadashev gained his first 13 professional sessions, 11 of them knockouts or technical knockouts.

In his professional debut on April 2016, he won with a first-round knockout of Darin Hampton. Dadashev won the vacant NABF super lightweight title in June 2018 with a tenth-round stoppage of Darleys Perez and defended it in October 2018 with a ten-round decision win over former WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco.

Cause of Death and Fight

On July 19, 2019, Dadashev vanished to opponent Subriel Matías at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The fight was an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior welterweight elimination bout for the number two WBC worldwide ratings position.

Dadashev’s trainer, Buddy McGirt, clogged the bout after the 11th round, over Dadashev’s protest in the corner.

On exiting the ring, Dadashev collapsed. Dadashev subsequently underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, and was placed in a medically tempted coma at UM Prince George’s Hospital Center.

Though, Dadashev deceased from his injuries on July 23 at the hospital. The Russian Boxing Federation launched an examination into the catastrophe, and vowed to support Dadashev’s family financially. Dadashev was survived by his wife, Elizaveta, and a son.

Dadashev’s body is planned to be sent to his hometown of Saint Petersburg, Russia, for funeral services and burial.

Dadashev quivered his head when McGirt told him he was stopping the fight.

Dadashev’s passing is likely to lead to more calls to advance the care of boxers in the ring moving forward.

A gifted amateur, Dadashev was the 2008 World Junior Championships silver medalist at 57 kilograms (126 lb) in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In 2010 and 2012, Dadashev was the Russian National Championships bronze medalist at 60 kilograms (130 lb), and also was the 2013 Russian National Championships silver medalist at 64 kilograms (141 lb).
