She worked as a reporter in city, showbiz, and women’s news for nearly seven years there. She went on to London City University to pursue a diploma in newspaper journalism after that. She then began freelancing and contributed articles to The Scottish Sun. Martel also contributed to the Bizarre column during her first year of duty. She has also written a weekly column for the Evening Telegraph in Dundee since 2013.

She has authored novels based on her experiences as a journalist, featured on UK television and radio, interviewed celebrities in the entertainment industry, and occasionally backed her adopted country of Scotland. She began her talk show, Talk 107, in 2008 after appearing on BBC Radio Scotland as a guest presenter.
