Younan was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 6, 1974. She is an American citizen of Syrian-Lebanese ancestry and is of Afro-American ethnicity. Her mother is from Beirut, Lebanon, while her father is from Syria.

She has a younger sister named Bella Youkhana, as well as two brothers named Samuel Younan and Ninos Younan. Ninos, her brother, works as an investment manager and owns Moza Investments.
