Her parents are both historical individuals who have made significant contributions to society. Her father was a religious leader who was killed in 1965 when he was 39 years old. In 1997, at the age of 63, her mother was murdered by her grandson, Malcolm. The 57-year-old lady, like her late father, has a tall stature.

Ilyasah can be introduced in a variety of ways: she is a motivational speaker, an activist, an author, and an educator, to name a few. Atallah Shabazz, Gamilah Lumumba Shabazz, Malaak Shabazz, Qubilah Shabazz, and Malikah Shabazz were reared by her mother together with five other siblings.
