Anne Lucinda Hartley Rice aka Anneka Rice (born on 4th October 1958 in Cowbridge, Glamorganshire, Wales, U.K.) is an English professional presenter, TV host, and broadcaster. She won the “Rear of the Year” award in 1986. She appeared in the show “Celebrity Mastermind” and won the show as runner-up to the winner, Tristan Gemmill. Rice also launched the England Cricket Team in the 1999 Cricket World Cup. And now she is a contestant in the dancing show BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

Firstly, Anne started working as a trainee for the BBC World Service. At the age of 19, she presented the news on the English language television station TVB Pearl. She has also done English dubbing for Kung Fu films. After that, she worked as a secretary in the BBC Children’s department. In 1982, she worked as the jump-suited “skyrunner” of Channel 4’s Treasure Hunt, hosted by Kenneth Kendall, a former BBC newsman.
The TV show was nominated for a BAFTA in 1986 for “Best Light Entertainment Programme” and in the same year, she won the “Rear of the Year” award. Next in 1988, she hosted the BBC’s Children in Need appeal and tested an early version of her next project, Challenge Anneka. This was her own show which was launched in 1989 on BBC One and aired for 5 years.
Anneka returned to television with the show, Challenge Anneka Rice as a co-producer in September 2001. ABC network in the U.S. approached to produce a new series based on the format branded Challenge America and hosted by Erin Brockovich. In 2003, she finished her art degree and returned to presenting on the Five show Dinner Doctors along with Jenni Trent Hughes, the relationship advisor.
Apart from hosting TV shows, she has written books on skiing and scuba diving. In addition, Rice played the lead role in The Vagina Monologues which was played at Birmingham Hippodrome from 31st January-4th February 2006. On 9th June 2006, the show, Challenge Anneka returned which was broadcasted on Boxing Day, and a further episode aired on 6th June 2007.
