Phylicia Rashad has proven her talent as an actress, singer, and stage director via her performances. While she excels at her own work, she is equally as capable when it comes to promoting the careers of her children.
Growing up, Phylicia Rashad’s daughter was her personal assistant.

Condola, Phylicia’s daughter, said in an interview with Harry Connick Jr. that she was her mother’s helper from the age of seven to nine.

Phylicia was doing a lot of theater work at the time. Condola fulfilled all of her duties as an assistant. She did everything, from waking her mother up from a nap to telling her it was time to go on stage to make her tea.

She would sit in the audience and take notes throughout her mother’s performances, just like an assistant.

Phylicia was previously married to William Lancelot Bowles Jr, a dentist. In 1972, they married and had a son. William Lancelot Bowles III, their son, was born in 1973. Apart from his name, there isn’t much information accessible about him.

In 1975, the former couple decided to call it quits on their marriage. After a decade apart, Phylicia married Ahmad Rashad, a former NFL wide receiver and sportscaster. Condola Rashad, their daughter, was born to them. She was born in New York in 1986. The couple separated in early 2001 after a tumultuous marriage.

Condola, her daughter, followed in her mother’s footsteps and became an actor. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, Soul, Black Box, A Fall from Grace, Colored Girls, Good Deeds, Steel Magnolias, and many other films have included her in recent years.

She is the first African-American actress to receive a Tony Award for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Play.’ She’s also the recipient of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series, or Dramatic Special.

Phylicia Rashad and the Bill Cosby Scandal

Rashad got herself into trouble in July 2021 when she came out in support of Bill Cosby after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his sentence.

Fans were outraged and asked that she resign from her position at Howard University.

After a few minutes, Rashad erased the post, but the harm had already been done.
