He is a boxing hero and a spokesperson for racial equality. Ali married four women, three of whom had him nine children.

Sonji Roi, a.k.a. Sonji Clay, was the first woman to marry Muhammad Ali. For two years, the ex-couple was married. Sonji had no children with Muhammad Ali over those two years. She did, however, have a son, Herman Griffin, following her divorce from Ali.

Marriage and Divorce of Muhammad Ali and Herman Griffin’s Mother, Sonji Roi

In 1964, the self-assured woman Late Sonji Roi met Muhammad Ali through Ali’s manager, Herbert Muhammad. Ali was previously known as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. at the time.

On 14 August 1964, Sonji and Muhammad married after 41 days of dating. Their marriage, however, did not last long. Sonji was displeased with Ali’s choice to convert her to Islam. Furthermore, she was apprehensive about accepting, following, and adhering to Muslim norms.

As a result, Muhammad Ali’s first wife, Sonji Roi, divorced him in 1966 after only two years of marriage. After her divorce from Ali, Roi chose the musical industry to distract herself from the agony of being apart from her beloved Ali.

Sonji Roi released a few singles, including ‘I Can’t-Wait (Until I See My Baby’s Face)’ and the ballad ‘Here I Am, and Here I’ll Stay.’ Though she never achieved musical stardom, her music had beautiful loneliness and was occasionally a bit seductive.

Sonji Roi returned to Chicago from Miami, where the ex-couple were living, after their brief marriage with Muhammad Ali. There she met Reynaldo Glover, a corporate lawyer, business counselor, and former chairman of the City Colleges of Chicago. After only a few months of dating, the couple married.

After a few years of marriage, Sonji and Reynaldo welcomed their first child, Reynaldo Glover Jr. The once-romantic couple Roi and Glover divorced after having a kid together. The true reasons for their breakup are hidden from the public sight.

Reynaldo, Sonji Roi’s second husband, was married three times and divorced twice. Glover married Pamela Glover shortly after Sonji. The couple has three children: two sons, Ryan Glover and Brian Glover, and a girl, Shea Glover. Glover died of pancreatic cancer in 2007 at the age of 64, after a few years of marriage with Pamela.

As previously stated, Muhammad Ali’s first wife, Sonji Roi, pursued a career in music after her divorce from Ali. She arrived to meet and deal with a number of entertainment-related individuals. Sonji could have dated some of them during that time period. As a result, Sonji may have become the mother of a son named Herman Griffin. However, Herman Griffin’s biological father is not yet known to the public.

The Causes of Sonji Roi’s Death

Sonji Roi, Herman Griffin’s mother, lived away from the public after divorcing her second husband, Reynaldo Glover. Roi made headlines again only after her untimely death at the age of 59.

Sonji, Muhammad Ali’s former wife, died in her Hyde Park home on Chicago’s South Side. Roi died via natural causes, according to the Cook County medical examiner. As a result, no autopsy was performed. Sonji’s nephew, on the other hand, informed the news that she died of a heart attack.
