Madison Bumgarner initiated his baseball career at the early age of four. Later, he joined the American Legion Baseball team. The San Francisco Giants selected Bumgarner tenth overall in the first round of the 2007 MLB draft. Going into the draft, Baseball America had ranked him as the 14th-best prospect overall.
After that, in 2008 Madison pitched for the Augusta Greenjackets, the Giant’s Low-A South Atlantic League affiliate. However, his stint there lasted for a short time.
