Chris Bassett, a well-known personal and private chef who has been on Real Housewives of Potomac, is married to reality television personality Candiace Dillard. Since getting married in August 2018, the couple has also been acting as parents to Bassett’s three children [from his previous two relationships].
Mateo and Naia, two of the three children, even had their RHOP television debut on July 11 during the first episode of the reality series’ sixth season, “The Nude Interlude.”
In an interview with Distractify that same month, Bassett discussed how his kids reacted to being photographed and revealed that he was first “definitely” afraid to have them appear on the Bravo show.
He told the publication, “I don’t sure that I really really wanted the kids to be on.
Since Day 1, the network has been requesting them. They want to put up a nice show since that is their job.
The Pandemic Facilitated the Children’s Debut
Bassett and his wife initially refused to let the network include their kids on the show, citing a number of factors, including their demanding academic schedules.
However, when the COVID-19 epidemic caused the children to be stuck at home and attend virtual school, they were forced to seize the chance and assist their children in making their on-screen debut. Mateo and Naia might appear on RHOP, but only if Bassett agreed that they were “fine” being filmed in front of the cameras.
The Children of Chris Bassett Were Naturals on Screen
Following the announcement that Bassett’s children would be appearing on television, his daughter Naia expressed her “great excitement” while his son Mateo expressed some trepidation.
“My daughter immediately froze when the cameras initially arrived. My son simply went right in since she was unsure of what to do, the renowned chef said, adding that his children were naturals on the RHOP set. Mateo eagerly anticipated their return.

The married pair was preoccupied with their different jobs while the reality program was being filmed while the kids made their debut.
Speaking of Bassett, during the COVID-19 epidemic, he sold his restaurant and redirected his attention to specially crafted live-cooking events and cocktail recipe lessons through HUNGRY Virtual Xperiences. He even worked as Candiace’s “husbanger” (manager/husband).
Dillard, meantime, continued her acting and singing careers while enrolling in Howard University’s Executive MBA program. The two were also in the process of purchasing a home together at the same time.
At the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, they were married
In front of 260 people, Bassett and Dillard exchanged wedding vows on a gorgeous Saturday in Washington, D.C. The wedding took held at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in August 2018 and had the theme “cosmopolitan sophistication with a touch of southern class.”
Bassett donned a white tuxedo with a flowery pattern, while Dillard wore a custom-made Karen Sabag gown.
The RHOP diva was married for the first time, but her husband-to-be had three kids from his two prior marriages. He was the manager and she was a server at the D.C. restaurant where they apparently first met.
