Jennifer Beals became well-known after appearing in the 1983 film Flashdance. Though the film was later criticized for failing to recognize Marine Jahan, who danced as Beals’ body-double, it opened the path for the actress’s great career.
Beals has appeared in over 80 films and television episodes over the course of her multi-decade career. Among her dozens of films, she is most known for Flashdance, the film that launched her career, and The L Word, a drama about a group of lesbians and bisexuals in Los Angeles.
Beals claims that the show altered her life by allowing her to find her voice.
Beals is an activist and an advocate for equal rights in addition to being an actress. In reality, she visited Standing Rock twice during the protests with the water protectors, and her husband was supportive of her decision.

Beals has been an ardent supporter of the LGBT community and a champion for homosexual rights since playing Bette Porter, a lesbian lady, in The L Word. She considers herself an honorary member of the group after portraying the character for so long, despite the fact that she is a straight woman.
At the 2006 San Francisco Pride Parade, Beals served as the Celebrity Grand Marshal. She has also received the Ally For Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign.

Beals is married to Canadian businessman Ken Dixon. The couple married on June 14, 1998, and they had a daughter together.
On October 18, 2005, Beals and her husband welcomed their first child. Her pregnancy was originally revealed in May of that year, while she was filming the third season of The L Word.
Beals’ family is unknown, and the identity of her daughter has yet to be revealed. The actress, on the other hand, has previously described motherhood as “the best thing in the world.”
Dixon is also the father of two children from a prior relationship. Beals was previously married to Alexandre Rockwell for ten years before marrying Dixon. They married on February 20, 1986, and then divorced in 1996.
