Shelby Stanga is an American reality television star who rose to prominence after appearing on the Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls in a post-Katrina episode in 2008.
Between 2009 and 2016, he starred in the History channel’s Ax Men, a show that follows the lives of numerous logging crews.
The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man, a spin-off of Ax Men, featured Stanga in 2013.
Are the ‘Ax Men’ Near-Death Experiences Real?
Accidents were a common subject in Shelby Stangas’ television show Ax Men.
While recording stunning exploits, Stangas had a couple of close calls with death. The reality star appeared to enjoy putting his life on the line on several occasions, resulting in numerous accidents.
As a result, several fans have accused the showrunners of manufacturing the incidents, casting doubt on the show’s legitimacy.
“The show wasn’t horrible when it initially came out,” one IMDb user wrote, “but it’s becoming too artificial and formulaic.
“It’s become so dumb & staged almost barely watchable now,” another said. “The only redeeming thing is Shelby.”
While the show’s validity is frequently questioned, the show’s 10th season ended in September 2019.
Stangas, on the other hand, did not appear in the show’s 10th season despite being a regular cast member since its 9th season in 2016.
Stanga’s Death Rumors After Helicopter Accident
William Bart, the helicopter pilot for the Ax Men program, was killed in a helicopter crash in east Linn County near Detroit on September 16, 2013.
Bart was hauling lumber from the cutting area to a log deck in Idanha when the disaster occurred.
The helicopter’s rotor blades reportedly malfunctioned on their own.
There were also allegations that Stanga was in the chopper and killed in the crash after the disaster. They were, however, all bogus.
In September 2016, one of the show’s stars was killed in an automobile accident near his home in Port Angeles, Washington, in a similar incident.
Various theories circulated about whether or not Stanga was involved in the disaster. He was not involved, to be sure.
Stanga is still alive and well. Currently, he enjoys a very private life with his wife Donna.
