In the 2012 thriller The Place Beyond the Pines, Ryan Gosling, a beloved leading actor in Hollywood, was compelled to preserve his eye-catching “dagger with blood drop” face tattoo.
Gosling regretted his choice to get a tattoo on his face.
In the crime drama, Gosling portrayed a man named Luke who rides a stunt motorcycle at a traveling carnival. The ex-stunt rider turned thief desired a happy ending for himself, his lover, and their infant boy (Eva Mendes).
The actor displayed numerous fake tattoos for the part, but the “dagger with blood drops” tattoo on the left side of his face was the one that grabbed people’s attention.
The film’s director, Derek Cianfrance, revealed that the actor was eager to cover himself in tattoos and was not accountable for them in an interview with NPR in 2013. He claimed, “I did not put that tattoo.”
When Cianfrance was questioned about how it came to that, he responded that Gosling had called him six months before the team’s start of filming and had given him the concept of “the most tattoos in the movie history.” The attractive actor expressed his wish to acquire an extraordinary tattoo of a bloodied blade on his face.
On the first day of filming, the actor from The Notebook arrived with ostentatious temporary tattoos all over his body and face. But by midday on the first day, Gosling began to regret getting a face tattoo.
Principal photography had just started when Gosling enquired whether they might reshoot sans the face ink. He was rejected by Cianfrance, who added, “You now have to live with your choices. The movie is about consequence.”
When asked about the facial tattoo in a 2013 interview with Cinema Blend, the actor said he went too far and that it was distracting. He acknowledged experiencing a “genuine sense of humiliation” but noted that it gave the character an exceptional quality.
Gosling eventually accepted his error and gave a profoundly melancholy performance as Luke in the film.
Ryan Gosling’s tattoos: Are They Real?
When Ryan Gosling’s temporary facial tattoo eventually faded, several admirers began to wonder if they were real tattoos. Also, “Does Ryan Gosling have tattoos?”
Ryan Gosling has had many fake tattoos created for him for various reasons, but he also has simple tattoos.
His actual tattoos include The Giving Tree’s cover on his left bicep and a “ghostly lady and a skeleton,” as he describes them, on the inside of his left arm. Additionally, he has a well-known barcode tattoo on his wrist.
Gosling has inked himself as well. He inked the monster hand tattoo on his left hand, frequently mistaken for a chicken.
In an interview with The Guardian, Gosling hinted that none of his tattoos—permanent and temporary—had any significance. He stated:
Relationship with Eva Mendes, Co-Star of “The Place Beyond the Pines”
It was previously rumored that Ryan Gosling and his girlfriend, Eva Mendes, had their first encounter while working on the film in 2011. But that is untrue.
Mendes reiterated that they had been acquainted for some time in a 2020 interview with Oprah Magazine, adding that it had been fun to collaborate on The Place Beyond The Pines.
Mendes claimed that before she met Gosling, having children was the “furthest thing” from her mind in a 2019 interview with Women’s Health.
Esmeralda and Amanda, the couple’s two stunning children, were born after over ten years of marriage.
The attractive couple, who are not legally married but have been inseparable since 2011, is fiercely protective of their union and their children.
