Kirsten Vangsness, who played Penelope Garcia in the detective drama Criminal Minds, has been outspoken about her sexual orientation. Although she is a lesbian, the actress stated in a red carpet interview with LGBT Hollywood on the occasion of the 2015 GLSEN Respect Awards that she enjoys dating guys as well.

Vangsness revealed that she came out as a lesbian about a decade ago and has now come out again, this time realizing she is equally attracted to guys.

The actress has started dating males for a change since her separation from her ex-fiance Melanie Goldstein.

During her high school years, the Criminal Minds star revealed that she had a crush on people of both genders and that she felt like she had always been this person. The actress revealed that she has an open mind when it comes to sexuality and dating, believing that individuals should do whatever makes them happy.

The actress, however, stated in a 2015 interview with People magazine that she does not identify as bisexual. The actress added that she had never really understood the term “bisexual,” and that after coming out once and discovering that nothing had changed in her, she realized that labels don’t matter in the end.

In addition, the actress confessed in an interview with LGBT Hollywood that she was having trouble deciding what to identify as, and that all that mattered to her was that she knew she was gay. In the interview, the actress stated:

Her second relationship was with a man.

In 2009, the Criminal Minds actress got engaged to Malanie Goldstein, her longtime lover. When the pair had a falling out in 2013, they were in their fourth year of engagement.

Following her breakup, the actress made headlines when she began dating men, and two years later, in 2015, she announced she was engaged to be married for the second time, to Keith Hanson.

The actress told People that her future husband-to-be was the ideal companion for her and that they help each other grow.

Their engagement took place more than a decade ago. However, no information about the couple’s wedding date has been released.
