On the way to winning Season 5 of ‘The Masked Singer,’ Nick Lachey’s wife assisted him in choosing songs.
SPOILER ALERT: Season 5 of The Masked Singer plot and ending details.
Nick Lachey, the lead vocalist of the multi-platinum-selling boy band 98 Degrees, just achieved a major accomplishment.
The Masked Singer (TMS) season finale aired on May 26 and revealed that ‘Piglet’ Nick had won, with ‘Black Swan’ JoJo and ‘Chameleon’ Wiz Khalifa coming in second and third, respectively.
Following his victory, the singer spoke with US Weekly about his time on The Voice and how his wife assisted him in winning the competition.
Nick’s Thoughts on ‘TMS’ and his Family
TMS, a popular reality show, showcases a variety of celebrities that disguise themselves with costumes and face masks. They sing covers of various tunes while masking themselves behind elaborate clothes. Except for the singers themselves, no one knows who they are.
Nick, on the other hand, was not like that. Camden, Brooklyn, and Phoenix, his three children, we’re aware that ‘the piglet’ was their father from the first episode. Nick was overjoyed that his children immediately recognized him, but TMS’s element of surprise was lost far too soon.
Throughout his tenure on the show, Nick was surrounded by his wife, Vanessa Lachey.
He admitted that Vanessa would assist him in deciding which songs to perform and that she is a better music fan than he is.
He went into detail about how they selected the song. They would sit on the back porch with a glass of wine and listen to music after putting their children to bed.
Every time ‘Piglet’ took the stage, they would choose a wide range of songs from various genres to delight the crowd and panel.
Their goal was to do something different from what had previously been done on the show. Nick performed a wide range of music, including an opera interlude for ‘Superstition,’ country tunes, and even Foo Fighters songs.
Nick won the hearts of the audience and panelists, as well as the show itself, proving that the couple’s strategy worked.
Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, and Nicole, a TV celebrity, were among the panelists.
The first five episodes were hosted by Niecy Nash, and the final five episodes were presented by Nick Cannon.
TMS’s fifth season aired from March 10 to May 26 and has already been renewed for a sixth season. This year’s season will premiere on Fox in the fall.
The Lachey Family’s Timeline
Nick was married to Jessica Simpson for a long time before he met Vanessa. They began dating in 1999 and married in October of the following year. Simpson, however, filed for divorce in December 2005 due to irreconcilable differences, and the divorce was finalized in June 2006.
Vanessa appeared in Nick’s ‘What’s Left of Me’ music video in April 2006. Vanessa, strangely, portrays the girl who broke Nick’s heart in the song about Nick and Simpson’s romance. Off-camera, though, the scenario was different.
Vanessa had a huge infatuation with the musician and saw the music video as the start of their romance. The pair began dating in the summer of 2006.
On January 1, 2007, they made their relationship public by kissing on-camera at midnight on MTV’s New Year’s Eve special.
From June to October 2009, the couple had a temporary separation. Nick proposed to Vannessa in November 2010, as if the temporary gap had strengthened their bond even further.
On a private island in the Caribbean, they married in July 2011. The couple showcased their wedding on TLC with the feature-length program Nick and Vanessa’s Dream Wedding, which aired nearly a month after the ceremony.
Since then, the couple has remained together. They have three children and a small family.
Camden John Lachey, the couple’s oldest child, was born in September 2012. Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey, their second and only child, was born in January 2015. Phoenix Robert Lachey was born on Christmas Eve of 2016, the couple’s second child.
