Kendall Jenner Reacts Subtly to The Weeknd Taking Kanye West’s Place at Coachella
Is this how she truly feels? Kendall Jenner reacted softly to the news that The Weeknd will be performing at Coachella in place of her ex-brother-in-law Kanye West.
The supermodel, 26, reacted in the comments section with a high-five emoji after the “Blinding Lights” singer, 32, announced the news through Instagram on Wednesday, April 6. (also known as the praying hand’s emoji). The Grammy winner shared a screenshot of the new Coachella billboard, which included his name in place of “Ye.”
After skipping the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, the Yeezy designer, 44, pulled out of the California music festival on Monday, April 4. On the 17th and 24th of April, West was set to headline the three-day event’s closing night.
The “Famous” rapper’s appearance was a last-minute substitution for Travis Scott, who was set to headline the festival’s 2020 edition. The “Sicko Mode” singer, 30, was announced as one of the 2022 headliners after the events in 2020 and 2021 were canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Following the Astroworld concert tragedy in December 2021, Scott was dropped from the program, and West was announced as his replacement the following month.
However, some Coachella goers were not pleased with the addition of the “Heartless” singer, who has made inflammatory statements about his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson. West produced a music video for his song “Eazy” last month that depicted him kidnapped and decapitating the 28-year-old Saturday Night Live actor.
Nearly 50,000 people signed a Change.org petition to get the Chicago native removed from Coachella before he dropped out. “For over a year, we have seen Kanye harass, manipulate, and harm Kim, Pete, and others,” the petition stated. “It’s ridiculous that he’s able to do this openly.” Coachella (and other brands that continue to work with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any further opportunities.”
In February 2021, the 41-year-old creator of Skims filed for divorce from West. Although the former couple is still working out the details of their split, a judge declared Kardashian legally single and reinstated her maiden name earlier this month.
After making her SNL hosting debut in October 2021, the cosmetics mogul was first linked to Davidson. The reality star and the comedian made their romance public on Instagram in March when she revealed images of herself and the comedian from their Valentine’s Day date.
In a new interview with Robin Roberts due to debut on Wednesday, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star said, “I am a relationship kind of girl, for sure, and I wouldn’t be with someone if I didn’t plan on spending a lot of my time with them.” “Of course, I’d like to take my time, but I’m really happy and comfortable right now.” And just being at calm gives me such a pleasant feeling.”
