Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, her husband, are both 50 years old. And they’ve been married to each other for half their lives. He and his wife have formed a loving family and raised three children together since they first met in February 1995.
In an episode of the Double Date podcast, Ripa and Consuelos joined hosts Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue to talk about their lengthy relationship.
Relationships from the past
Ripa and Consuelos claimed in the podcast that they consider themselves progressive, but that their roles in the relationship may be considered “old fashioned” by most others.
Because her profession never took her away from her family, Ripa, who anchors Live With Kelly and Ryan, revealed that she and her husband had fallen into their respective roles in their marriage.
Because of his job, Consuelos has to travel a lot, but Ripa is constantly with the kids.
Ripa went on to say that traveling and being away from home was difficult and that because Consuelos had made that sacrifice, he occasionally missed their children’s milestones. Consuelos appeared to believe that his wife made the sacrifice by choosing to stay near to their family.

Ripa still anchors Live With Kelly and Ryan, despite the fact that she does not travel and likes to be there in her children’s lives. On February 5, 2001, she debuted on the talk show.
Ripa stated to Consuelos during their appearance on the Double Date podcast that it was Consuelos who pushed her to undertake the talk show since she was concerned because it would take time away from her family.
Timeline of the Relationship
Ripa and Consuelos initially met at a screen test for All My Children in February 1995. She disclosed in an August 2018 interview with SiriusXM that she had auditioned Consuelos for the role of Hayley Vaughan’s (Ripa’s character) future spouse.
Ripa claims she saw her “entire future with him flash” before her eyes when the casting director handed her a photo of Consuelos. He was cast as Mateo Santos, and the two of them remained in the serial opera until 2001.
They began dating privately soon after becoming co-stars and made their relationship public at the 1996 Soap Opera Digest Awards on Valentine’s Day. After a date featuring pizza and wine, Consuelos proposed to Ripa three months later.
On May 1, 1996, they eloped in Las Vegas, where she wore a $199 dress from Barney’s clearance sale. In June 1997, Ripa and Consuelos welcomed their first child, son Michael Consuelos.
Their on-screen characters in All My Children married on June 16, 2000, and their daughter Lola Consuelos was born precisely a year later, on June 16, 2001. Their youngest kid, Joaquin Consuelos, was born on February 25, 2003, and was the newest addition to their family.
