After the divorce, my ex-husband died.

In 1996, Ashton married Dr. Robert Ashton, a thoracic and cardiac surgeon. Alex Ashton, a son, and Chloe Ashton, a daughter, were born to the couple.

The couple split in January 2017 after being together for almost 21 years in an interracial relationship.

However, parting ways was not the major difficulty; the major issue emerged when Ashton’s ex-husband Robert committed suicide two weeks after the couple divorced.

On February 11, 2017, the 52-year-old surgeon committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge.

Following her ex-demise, the husband’s the California native posted an Instagram message to express her condolences.

She revealed that she and her children’s hearts had been broken there. She went on to say that Robert was helpful and that he was a kind, generous, and kind man.

Jeniffer remained upbeat, at least on the surface, and suggested that her ex-death husband should serve as a wake-up call to everyone who has a loved one suffering from depression.

While speaking on Good Morning America about Kate Spade’s suicide, Ashton shared more about the incident, or rather the aftermath.

She discussed what she and her two children went through in the aftermath of her ex-suicide husband’s and how they survived subsequently; they had to attend therapy sessions to get over the trauma of survival.

In an interview with PEOPLE, she claimed that the line “You found the light in me that I couldn’t locate” was reverberated via her newfound partner’s actions.

In January 2010, she published The Body Scoop for Girls, which was well-received. She’s also the author of a number of publications, including “Your Body Beautiful” and “Eat This Not That When You’re Expecting.”
