A reality TV program called Deadliest Catch centers on crab fishermen. They go fishing in the Bearing Sea during the snow crab and Alaskan king crab seasons.

The program has been airing on Discovery Channel since April 2005. The show is currently airing in its 17th season, which debuted on March 19, 2021.

Edgar Hansen was one of the series’ most notable fishermen. He appeared in 153 episodes and held the positions of engineer, deck supervisor, and replacement captain. However, he served as Sig’s right-hand man the majority of the time.

Hansen has not recently been on Deadliest Catch. This is due to the fact that he was the subject of a scandal.

On September 30, 2017, Hansen attacked a 16-year-old girl at her home. After “Jane Doe” told her therapist about the molestation, Hansen was prosecuted.

He confessed in writing to kissing and groping the 16-year-old girl’s private areas with malice. He apologized to Jane Doe and claimed that he did it to satisfy his desires.

The TV personality accepted a plea agreement from Snohomish County prosecutors and pleaded guilty to assault in the fourth degree. The Seattle Times announced on July 16, 2018, that Hansen would not be receiving a jail sentence.

He was given a 364-day jail term with a suspension, ordered to pay $1,653 in court fees, and required to undergo testing and treatment for sexual deviance.

Fans of Deadliest Catch have been wondering two things ever since Edgar Hansen entered a guilty plea: Is Hansen still fishing? What is Edgar Hansen now doing?

Hansen has remained unassuming ever since the charges in 2018. He doesn’t use social media, therefore little is known about his current situation.

The status of his participation in the Deadliest Catch is also unknown. However, Hansen’s biography has been taken down from the show’s website.

Even though his final episode aired in August 2018, there are reports that he is still working on the show behind the scenes. .

Mandy, Hansen’s niece, posted a video of the crew on a boat on Instagram in October 2018. Since Hansen could be seen in the tape, many viewers wondered if he was still a part of the show.

But to date, neither Discovery nor the Deadliest Catch production team has provided any information regarding Hansen’s role in the program.

Additional Scandals involving Cast Members

Not everyone from Deadliest Catch who has run into legal issues is Hansen. His older brother has likewise been involved in a number of scandals.

Additionally, Sig was accused of abusing his estranged daughter Melissa Eckstrom. As a young child during her parents’ divorce, Eckstrom suffered maltreatment.

Jerod Sechrist, a different cast member from 2020, was detained three times in a period of six months. He was taken into custody on April 8, 2020, on three counts of stealing.

Jake Harris has also been detained for drug possession and driving while intoxicated.
