The funk progenitor, James Brown, was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and bandleader. Over the course of his five-decade career, he made a tremendous contribution to the musical world. In addition, when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was founded in 1986, he was one of the initial ten inductees.
We’ve all seen James Brown’s illustrious career, but we’ve also heard stories about abuse in his relationship/marriage. Furthermore, the internet is awash with controversies regarding his death, the death of his third wife, Adrienne Brown, his stormy relationship with ex-wives, and the famed property dispute.
In this post, we’ll focus on Deidre Jenkins, James Brown’s ex-wife, and her whereabouts.
Deidre Jenkins, James Brown’s ex-wife
As previously stated, James Brown had an illustrious 50-year career. Despite the fact that his career was plagued by legal troubles, James made a significant contribution to funk music and impacted other genres.
James Brown’s marriage life was miserable, despite his popularity and adoration. He married four women, the second of them being Deidre Jenkins. Similarly, on October 22, 1970, the former couple married in front of their friends and families. Following that, they appeared together in a number of events.
Deidre Jenkins, James Brown’s ex-wife, was also present in Tattletales, and the duo appeared to be in good spirits. Their chemistry was undeniable, and they appeared to have known one other for a long time.
Deidre Jenkins was stunning in her youth and continues to be so today. Unfortunately, their marriage was short-lived, and they divorced on January 10, 1981.
Prior to Jenkins, James was married to Velma Warren from 1953 to 1969 for nearly a decade. The couple brought three children into their lives at the same time.
IMDb has a few credits for the soundtrack.
Jenkins, as previously said, is a private individual. She has, however, featured in a few television shows and has a few writing credits including James Brown’s song, “Get Up Offa That Thing.”
In addition, she featured on Tattletales with her spouse. She also served as a biographical consultant on James Brown’s biopic, Get on Up.
Two Daughters’ Mother
As previously stated, James Brown married Deidra for a little more than a decade and had two children, Yamma Brown and Deanna Brown Thomas. Deanna Brown Thomas, their firstborn, is now in charge of the family business. Similarly, Yamma Brown is the founder of YB Essentials, a high-end skincare line.
Yamma and Deanna Jenkins, Jenkins’ children, also post images of their families and appear to be doing well in life.
Deidre Jenkins, James Brown’s ex-wife, gave birth to two daughters. Deannas’ Instagram account was used to create this image.
Yamma’s Instagram handle also means ‘daughter of soul,’ thus James Brown’s daughters adore him. That did not, however, prevent them from discussing their mother’s traumatic ordeal.
Deidre Jenkins’ daughters reveal their mother’s domestic abuse stories.
We’ve all heard about Deidre Jenkins’ husband, James Brown, and his evil side. In ‘Get On Up,’ he created and participated in multiple rounds of abuse, which is creatively shown.
In addition, James Brown’s children observed their father’s dark side, prompting Jenkins’ daughter, Yamma Brown, to write Cold Sweat: My Father James Brown and Me.
She recalls the traumatic memories James inflicted on her as a child in her memoir. She recalls how the brawl started with James’s words and her mother punching the wall in an excerpt. She also remembered her 5-year-old self shivering and crying in a closet or under mattresses.
Deidra Brown’s daughter testified that her father never hit her, but that she recalled believing that “a beating was less hurtful than the sound of her mother being a punching bag.”
A fatal beating was also observed by Yamma and her older sister, which was the final straw for Deidra. Yamma recalls confronting her mother about the beatings, and Deidra admitted to leaving her husband during those occasions, according to Yamma’s account.
Deidra Jenkins, James Brown’s ex-wife, is currently living a reclusive life away from the media’s scrutiny and abuse. Jenkins’ whereabouts are unknown, however she occasionally appears on her daughter’s Instagram account.
As a result, let’s hope Deidre is no longer suffering from the excruciating pain she endured.
