After allegations of Hansen sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in September 2017 surfaced, he became the subject of a scandal at the start of 2018. All fingers were directed towards Hansen after the adolescent told her therapist about the attack.

After a quick inquiry, Hansen entered a written plea of guilty in which he acknowledged groping and kissing the girl indecently for his own pleasure. In exchange for a plea agreement with Snohomish County prosecutors, he expressed regret to the victim.

Hansen was given a 364-day sentence with a suspension that was obtained by Seattle Times on July 16, 2018, and he was also required to pay $1,653 in court fines and costs.

He also had to undergo counseling and a sexual-deviancy evaluation. After starting counseling, Hansen said, “I have started treatment to make sure that nothing like this assault ever happens again.”

Hansen discontinued participating in Deadliest Catch after his heinous act. In August 2018, the final episode of the program featured his air. While the incident damaged his career, it also left the show’s devoted viewers wondering if it affected his marriage.

Unfortunately, neither Hansen nor his wife has responded to the questions. Additionally, the Seattle native deleted all of her social media accounts, including Instagram and Twitter. Additionally, he is dormant on Facebook, where he last made a family-related comment on December 12, 2015.

In a collection of photos with his family, he had written that they had enjoyed their day of skiing at Mount Baker.
