In the late 1960s, he was a professional rodeo rider who traveled the competitive rodeo circuit from New Jersey to Texas.

Virginia Springsteen, Bruce Springsteen’s sister, married and moved to Lakewood, California. She began to live in the same working-class neighborhood as her parents. The girl who had never done any housework grew up to be a hardworking Irish woman. Similarly, as she worked the floor in the mart, her young husband, Michael, worked in construction and eventually as a janitor at a local high school.
