Ashley tried to connect with popular Hollywood personalities to gain a connection in the Fashion Industry. She was dating her partner Ashton Kutcher at the time of her murder. Apart from Ashton Kutcher, she had many Hollywood celebrities as her partners such as Vin Diesel and Jeremy Sisto.

However, she became friends with Michael Gargiulo AKA Hollywood Ripper. Michael won her trust after pretending to be an air conditioning technician. Even after Ashley friends tried warning her of her bad intention, she was too stubborn to listen to her friends. On February 21, 2001, Ashley set up a date with her partner, Ashton Kutcher, to attend the after-party Grammy awards.

Michael saw this opportunity and entered her house while she was waiting for her partner. Furthermore, Michael broke into her house and stabbed her 47 times. After Ashley failed to respond to her partner’s call, Ashton went through her house to check on her. Likewise, he looked from her window and saw what he thought was spilled wine on the floor. Ashton was not alerted as Ashley was known for her crazy parties. He thought of it as one of that crazy party where things went out of control.

On 22 February 2001, her roommate was shocked after she found Ashley’s cold dead body. According to the autopsy, her injuries include a neck wound that nearly severed her head, and deep punctures to the chest, stomach, and back that in some cases were up to six inches deep. On the words of detective Tom Small, one stab penetrated the skull and took out a chunk of the skull like a puzzle piece.

Ashley Ellerin Murder Arrest and Prosecution

On 6 June 2008, Santa Monica Police Department arrested Michael Gargiulo. He earned his name of “Hollywood Ripper” and “Chiller Killer” from the media. Besides Ashley, he is accused of murdering his 18-year-old neighbor in August 1993 and Maria Bruno in December 2005. Michelle Murphy is the only survivor from his attacks.

He was being held in Los Angeles County jail and his pre-trial was held on June 2017 in Los Angeles Superior Court. His trial started on 2 May 2019

Ashley was born in 1979 at Los Altos, California. Her age was 22 at the time of her murder. She spent her early life in Silicon Valley town of Los Altos, where she graduated from Los Altos High School. Moreover, she was an active swimmer player at her high school.

Ashley later moved to Los Angeles to start her career in fashion. Moreover, she enrolled herself in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.

To support her education, Ashley took on the job of a makeup counter employee by day and a stripper during nights at the club Cheetah in Las Vegas.
