With a little help from Gucci, Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith are heating up the 2022 Met Gala.

The celebrity pair ahead of Monday’s event about their collaboration with Motorola — whose razr phone they’re wearing on the red carpet in New York City — and the inspiration behind their designs for fashion’s biggest night, which is themed “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”

“I suppose I had train envy,” Jackson, 43, laughs to his wife, “I’ve seen you in all these beautiful gowns with these big trains and I was like, ‘I gotta get some of that.'”

Turner-Smith tells that her and her Dr. Death actor husband’s looks “sort of ended up existing in the same era,” with a barely-there fringe (a tribute to Jackson’s sci-fi series of the same name?) bottom, bandeau-style top with plunging neckline, and long peach train.

“Men wore tails through a lot of different ages,” explains the 35-year-old actress from After Yang. “It’s kind of safe, but it’s still this very old-fashioned vision of evening attire,” she says.
“The only people who appreciated that moment more than we were the people in the building across the street,” Jackson joked of a photo set from their Critics Choice Awards getting-ready session in March that went viral. (Turner-Smith was naked in the images, which were taken from behind while the couple posed outside on a balcony.)

“All my friends who know me know that I’m simply someone who loves to be free, who loves to be naked, who just wants to live her life,” says Anne Boleyn, whose best friend took the images. “So it’s exactly like me living my life, only now I had a spouse who loves to see me live my life, and we were all just having fun together.”

“I love the fact that he holds room for me to enjoy myself — like, allow me just spread my wings fully, and loves to see me do it,” Turner-Smith tells about getting ready for events with Jackson.

“I think [Jodie] really enjoys getting all glammed up and putting on a great dress and all the jewels, and it’s so much fun to watch her have that much fun,” the Dawson’s Creek alum says. “It also allows mom and dad to spend a night out together, which is fantastic.”

Jackson goes on to remark that the Met Gala is “definitely the fanciest date night” he and his wife, who have a 2-year-old daughter, are “going to go on this year” — and that he knows many “parents can identify” to savoring that one-on-one time with their partners.

“There’s so much joy in getting to spend that time together, and then, not to be cheesy-daddy about it, but then we’ll have a night out, and then we’ll go home and kiss our daughter, and then we’ll get her out of bed the next morning and change a diaper,” he says.

Turner-Smith will be attending her first Met Gala this year. When asked if Jackson has given her any insider information, she claims he hasn’t “given me too many facts.”

The actor explains, “It’s because this is your first encounter, and it should be your first experience.” “I can’t wait to be there with you when you discover everything for the first time.”
“We live in a cultural moment that is filled with so much stress and anxiety, and the idea of just hanging up on all that noise and giving yourself a moment to just be authentically yourself, is really enticing,” Jackson says of his decision to partner with Motorola on the brand’s #HangUpOnIt campaign.

He continues, “I believe that’s the area we’re all moving into now as we emerge out of the madness of the previous two years, or really the last six years, or really our entire life.” “We’re reuniting with the concept of reuniting. What matters most in the aftermath of pandemics and lockdowns, as well as all the stresses and strains, is the ability to be yourself and be with those that matter to you.”

“We live in such a content-driven ociety,” Turner-Smith adds, “and that means there are so many people, so many ideas, and so many things continually arriving at us.” “‘Well, what do other people think?’ and ‘What are other people saying?’ are so easy to get sucked into. Because we spend our entire lives looking at what others are doing on these apps.”

“‘Let’s f—- the current quo,’ Motorola says, and I love it. Let’s put all of those outside voices on hold and focus our efforts on being the incredible person that you are and creating what you’re creating,’ “She clarifies. “And I feel like that’s my energy and the energy I’m feeling for my family right now.”
