Christine Amanpour was born on January 12, 1958, and reared in Tehran. In the early 1980s, the 60-year-old began her journalism career at WBRU-FM in Rhode Island.

In 1983, she was employed as an entry-level desk assistant by CNN. Christiane worked as a correspondent and eventually covered a wide range of major stories from around the world.

In 1992, she was named CNN’s chief international correspondent, and in 2009, she hosted the Amanpour interview show. She was also the first international correspondent to conduct interviews with presidents, including Tony Blair. Pervez Musharraf with Jacques Chirac.

Christiane, however, departed CNN in 2010 after 27 years of service and joined ABC News. She took over as host of the network’s This Week. However, she quit the show in December 2011 and began working for the network as a reporter.

Christiane Marries The Same Guy Twice!

James Phillip Rubin, an Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, is Christiane’s husband. In 1997, the pair met while Christiane was on assignment and James was on duty in Bosnia, aiding Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright.

They decided to marry after falling in love over a late-night drink at a hotel in Zagreb, Croatia.

The couple married on August 9, 1988, when Christiane was 30 years old, in a wedding ceremony held at the Church of Santo Stefano in Bracciano, Italy. Later that day, the couple married again at Castello Orsini-Odescalchi, this time in a Jewish custom.

On March 28, 2000, the couple welcomed their first child, a son called Darius John Amanpour, after twelve years of marriage.

Following the birth of their baby, Christiane’s husband James elected to stay at home and care for the infant.

James abandoned his position as Madeline Albright’s assistant to help Christiane with her work and to devote full time to their son.

In a 2003 interview with People, James gushed that he abandoned his job to help his wife raise their son and that doing so also let him get to know his child.

Christiane also stated that it is wonderful to be reunited with her husband and son after being active in outdoor work.

Furthermore, their love and passion for one other earned them a spot among the World’s 50 Most Powerful Couples in 2012.
