Stephanie Acevedo, ‘Cartel Crew’ Star: Her Music Career and Relationship with Her Father and the Cartel

Aceveda’s Early Life
Aceveda was born in Miami on October 11, 1990. She is of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent and is the daughter of one of Miami’s most infamous drug traffickers. Her father was sentenced to six years in prison and several years of probation when she was only eight years old.
Gloria took care of the family while her father was serving his sentence. However, those were difficult times for the family, as they confronted significant financial difficulties. The 30-year-old woman has not let her father’s criminal past or its impact on her family prevent her from moving forward.
Despite the difficulty, she does not wish to conceal it, as it is something she has experienced.
The Relationship Between Aceveda and Her Father
Despite her father’s actions, Aceveda remains protective of him and cannot tolerate others’ contempt. In the episode titled ‘New York, Old Secrets’, which broadcast on VH1 on December 10, 2019, tension arose when Nicole Zavala suggested that Acevedo’s father may have received a reduced sentence because he snitched to the federal government.
This was not acceptable to Acevedo. Acevedo was about to confront Zavala when the situation was resolved when Zavala apologized to her. She additionally addressed the same incident on Instagram. She explained that she does not hesitate to give others a second opportunity and that her father deserves one as well.
Acevedo’s Musical Travels
The reality television star’s love for music developed at an early age. Growing up, she participated in numerous talent showcases due to her desire to become a singer. The Latina singer also attended numerous classes and workshops to hone her abilities.
After graduating from high school, she pursued a medical degree, resulting in a complete transformation in her priorities. She earned an associate’s degree in medicine from Miami Dade College with a specialization in ultrasonography.
The singer pursued her childhood ambition of becoming a musician after obtaining her medical degree as a Plan B.
In January 2015, the singer was contracted to Lil Wayne’s record label, Young Money Entertainment. Wayne shared her rendition of Leona Lewis’s ‘Bleeding Love’ on his YouTube channel to promote her.
Five years ago, in an interview with Dr. Miami, the singer explained how she became affiliated with such a large record label. Acevedo disclosed that she encountered Wayne through a mutual acquaintance and that they remained close for several years.
She recorded something in her studio while experimenting with music and sent it to Wayne for his feedback. The ‘How to Love’ singer was completely blown away by her performance and promptly invited her into the studio, and the rest is history.
On Wayne’s ‘No Ceilings 2’ album, the song ‘Crystal Ball’ featured Acevedo. She was also featured on Wayne’s apparel brand TRUKFIT’s limited edition T-shirt line. Late in 2019, there were rumors that Acevedo was leaving Wayne’s record label, but neither party has validated this information.
In October 2017, she published her debut single, ‘Acércate,’ via the rapper’s YouTube channel. Since then, she has released a number of singles, including ‘Boom Boom’ and ‘Te Equivocaste.’ Her latest single, ‘Un Beso,’ was published in May of 2020.
The Latina singer grew up listening to the legendary vocalist Selena, her musical inspiration. In addition to being an immense influence on her life, Selena also had a significant impact on her musical career.
In addition to her music career, Acevedo is presently a member of Cartel Crew. She has returned for the third season, which premieres new episodes every Monday at 9/8c on VH1.
