Dr. Lynette Nusbacher, a famous historian, understands what tradition means to a family.
That’s why, while living in the fast-paced world of modern America, she made sure her family was well-versed in Jewish beliefs and rituals.
As a result, she and her long-time partner Melanie Bright raised their children in a Jewish environment.

Lynette Nusbacher Raised Her Children In A Jewish Environment
True, Nusbacher keeps her personal life out of the spotlight. But, happily, she wasn’t so secretive a few years ago. On Livejournal, she used to write about her daily activities. Her and her spouse instilled Jewish beliefs and traditions in their children, according to the journals.
For example, the historian wrote in her August 2008 notebook that she cooked delicacies for her family on Sukkot, the biblical Jewish holiday known as the Feast of Ingathering.
Then, on November 8, 2008, she stated that her daughters spent Saturday mornings in a Jewish prayer house called the Synagogue.
Furthermore, the historian clarified in her December 8, 2008 article that she was in the Finchley Reform Synagogue with her children for a bat mitzvah reception. A Bat Mitzvah is a Jewish ceremony that marks a child’s maturation. However, Nusbacher did not specify if the event was for her children or relatives.
Nonetheless, her actions of taking the children to the Synagogue, spending Shabbat with them, and cooking kosher meals for the family demonstrated that she follows Jewish tradition. It also showed that she instilled Jewish values in her children.
Lynette Nusbacher’s daughter is a fan of fencing and follows in her mother’s footsteps.
In a May 2020 interview with Fran Terminiello, Nusbacher emphasized that one of her children, Abigail, continues the family heritage.
She first disclosed her roots in fencing, a fighting sport, when she talked about her love for blades and swords.
She went on to say that her father was a fencer and that she used to do sports before her job as a historian got in the way. Finally, she revealed that her daughter, Abigail, was a fencer as well, and said she was proud of her family for continuing the family legacy.
