Kate McKinnon, well known for her Saturday Night Live character work and celebrity impersonation, is openly gay.
Despite her celebrity and openness about her sexuality, she is quite discreet about her personal life and does not use social media.
During a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2016, she remarked about her social media involvement, “I write emails and I send text messages to around five people.”
“Apart from that, it’s completely zero.”
When questioned if she avoided social media on purpose, she revealed that she did so because she was “extremely afraid” of saying something.
She went on to say that she was afraid her statements might be misunderstood on such a prominent stage.
The disadvantage of her admirers’ privacy is that they are usually kept in the dark about her personal life, such as her relationship status and facts about her partner.
Jackie Abbott is Kate McKinnon’s last known partner.
We last heard about her relationship while she was dating Jackie Abbott, a fellow singer.
When McKinnon and her boyfriend, Abbott, stepped out as a couple at the 2017 Emmys, their relationship became public. They sat next to each other even though they didn’t walk the red carpet together.
Later, McKinnon won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and Abbott hugged her before she took the stage to accept her prize.
“Jack, I appreciate it! I adore you “In her acceptance speech, McKinnon stated.
On the same day, American radio DJ Michelle Visage released an Emmys backstage photo with McKinnon and Abbott, introducing Abbott as McKinnon’s “beautiful” girlfriend.
It’s November 2021, and it’s uncertain whether they’re still together. If they break up, it’s unclear who McKinnon is dating or if she is now single.
Kate McKinnon is wary of disclosing personal information.
In addition to her prior admission that she was afraid of disclosing her personal information, McKinnon also spoke with GQ about the same topic in another interview. She mentioned during the chat that she was the polar opposite of an over-sharer.
“People who know me best criticize me for not providing enough specifics about my day or my life. I believe I’m just a really private person “she stated
The comedian went on to say that she wasn’t comfortable sharing personal information until she was in her mid-twenties.
According to McKinnon, “I just…in my mid-twenties, I realized that I didn’t feel safe revealing personal information as I had in earlier years. And I’ve been running with it ever since.”
At the Golden Globes, Kate McKinnon Openly Discussed Being “Gay.”
Although the Saturday Night Live cast member had been upfront about being a lesbian for years, her sexual orientation was not discussed as much as other celebrities.
That changed when she discussed being ‘gay’ and the role Ellen DeGeneres played in her coming to terms with herself. She was honest while presenting DeGeneres with the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes in January 2020.
Her lengthy speech included the following passage:
Many people have been motivated by her accomplishment to follow in her footsteps.
