Days after Will Smith’s Oscars Scandal, August Alsina Releases New Song Alluding to Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Entanglement’
When the iron is hot, strike. August Alsina has released a new song that references his “entanglement” with Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, less than two weeks after the actor’s Oscars debacle.
“Of course, some s–t is destined to go down when there are a billion dollars on the elevator,” the R&B musician, 29, sings on his new single “Shake the World,” which he released on Tuesday, April 5. “Well, when you get tied up with the world’s favorite, some sh—t is bound to happen.”
Listeners assumed the word “tangled up” related to Pinkett Smith’s, 50, description of her affair with Alsina as a “entanglement” and her description of the actress as “the world’s favorite.”
The hip-hop singer has already spoken about his previous connection with the Girls Trip star, who admitted to the affair on Red Table Talk in July 2020 after denying it the day before.
“The meaning of entanglement is when you tangle in the sheets,” Alsina sang on his later-released single “Entanglements.” “I know we don’t call it a relationship, but you’re still f—king with me,” says the girl.
In a July 2020 interview with “Breakfast Club” anchor Angela Yee, the New Orleans native first announced that he and Pinkett Smith were romantically involved. Before the Gotham tragedy, he stated that he had “literally never been in love.”
“I absolutely dedicated myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I honestly and truly, truly adore and have a ton of love for her,” the singer revealed. “I dedicated myself to it, and I gave it my all.”
Pinkett Smith’s marriage to the King Richard actor, 53, sparked rumors, and the duo went on to reveal everything on her Facebook Watch series. At the time, the Matrix Reloaded actress revealed that she and Smith were separated when she ended her liaison with Alsina, which she claimed had occurred four and a half years before.
She stated, “We were over.” “As time passed, I became entangled in a different kind of entanglement with August.”
“We decided we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure out how to make yourself happy and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy,” the Pursuit of Happyness star agreed, adding, “We decided we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure out how to make yourself happy and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy.”
Pinkett Smith also admitted that her “entanglement” with Alsina was “definitely” a “relationship,” not merely a “dating” situation.
Alsina appeared to address Smith’s altercation at the Academy Awards on March 27 before releasing his new song. In response to a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum struck Chris Rock across the face.
Alsina took to Instagram two days after the ceremony to express his feelings.
He wrote at the time, “Choose peace.” “I’m A Walking Billboard & Network Simply Desiring To Televise & Broadcast Love, God’s love, grace, and healing embrace, Good Music that is healing (with a small bit of nasty)”
