Dawn Staley is she gay? Everything You Need To Know About Her Parents, Partner, and Relationship Status
Dawn Staley is the personification of women’s empowerment, and she can speak with authority about her unwavering career in basketball thanks to her groundbreaking accomplishments. However, the same cannot be said for her private life, particularly her romantic situation and attitude toward marriage.
The American basketball coach has always kept her private affairs private, never mentioning her partners and allowing fans to speculate about her sexual orientation.
Are Lisa Boyer and Dawn Staley lesbians?
Although Staley has never spoken publicly about her relationship status or her boyfriend, she has let her admirers to make assumptions about them.
Because of her unabashed, outspoken personality, many of her fans believe she is a lesbian. And the rumors have been around for a while. I believe Dawn Staley is gay, a Twitter user by the name of Zaria remarked back in 2014.
Then, in March 2021, another Twitter user assumed she was a lesbian while stating that she was unsure of her true sexual orientation. Dawn Staley is a different type of old, fine, homosexual self, according to her tweet, “I don’t even know whether she’s gay, but she looks like it.”
It’s interesting to note that the lesbian presumptions weren’t spontaneous. Staley and Lisa Boyer, South Carolina’s assistant basketball coach, have a long history together.
In a since-deleted post, the three-time Olympic gold medallist referred to Boyer and herself as a married couple, which fueled the dating rumors. She even praised Boyer for giving up her work to help her realize her aspirations.
There is no other proof that Staley is Lisa Boyer’s husband outside the tweet. Neither of them has acknowledged their connection or spoken of the other as partners.
Died her parents
On May 4, 1970, Staley was born to Clarence Staley and Estelle Staley.
In the 1950s, when her parents were still in their teens, they married and relocated from North Philadelphia to South Carolina. Lawrence Staley, Anthony Staley, Eric Staley, Tracey Staley Underwood, and Dawn Staley were the five children they welcomed into their family—three males and two girls.
Unfortunately, Staley, the youngest of her siblings, lost her father to sickness in 2006. Her mother, who forced her to prioritize her studies while she played basketball, already had Alzheimer’s at the time.
Staley relocated to South Carolina to take care of her mother. Her mother lived for years and died in August 2017 at the age of 74.
Sought Assistance for Sister’s Cancer
In May 2020, Staley pleaded with her followers to send them positive vibes for her sister’s quick recovery from leukemia.
In a tweet, the head coach of the University of South Carolina said that Tracey Staley Underwood, her older sister, had been identified as having the blood disease leukemia. Then, in an effort to cheer Tracey up, she asked her followers to send her cards and messages.
Following the plea, her sister underwent five rounds of chemotherapy and underwent a bone marrow transplant in August 2020 to make a full recovery. The required stem cells were provided as a 10/10 match for the gift from their brother Lawrence.
