Adam Bennett Schiff aka Adam Schiff (born on 22nd June 1960 in Framingham, Massachusetts, U.S.) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California’s 28th congressional district since 2001. Currently, he serves as the chairman of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He previously worked on the United States House Foreign Affairs Committee and the State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Subcommittee of Appropriations Committee.

Career
After grabbing his degree from Harvard Law School, he started working as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Los Angeles. While he worked there, he prosecuted a case against Richard Miller, a former FBI agent. He was passing secret documents to the Soviet Union in exchange for a promised $65000 in gold and cash. Miller was convicted in a third trial.
Adam was elected to the California’s 21st State Senate district (now called 25th Senate district) in 1996. During his tenure in the state senate, Schiff authored Senate Bill 1847, Chapter 1021. In 1998, he signed into law which created the Pasadena Blue Line Authority. It continued work on the stalled then-Blue Line rail extension to Pasadena, which later would be named the Gold Line instead.
On 7th November 2000, Schiff got elected to the U.S. House of representatives and started serving his first term on 3rd January 2001. And 10th term in Congress in January 2019. Schiff voted in favor of the 2003 invasion of Iraq to tailor Bush-era plans from 2001 and 2002 to fight ISIS. In February 2015, when asked, he revealed that he regretted voting to invade as it resulted a cascading events which had disastrous consequences.
He moved on to his next mission i.e. he introduced U.S. House Resolution 106 for Armenian-American issues recognizing the Armenian genocide. It was approved by the House Foreign Affairs Committee on 11th October 2007 but continued on 4th March 2010. Adam also worked hard on reducing unwanted helicopter noise in L.A. with FAA and Secretary of the Department of Transportation under the Helicopter Noise Relief Act which came into action in 2015.
Political Career
In January 2014, Adam introduced the Telephone Metadata Reform Act, to prohibit the bulk collection of domestic phone records. He also introduced several bills for systematic collection of foreign intelligence information in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. Nancy Pelosi appointed him to the House Select Committee on Benghazi in 2014 to serve as one of the five Democrats on the Committee.
He participated in the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to investigate on the attacks on the Benghazi diplomatic compound. Adam formed and introduced the bipartisan, bicameral Congressional Caucus for the Freedom of the Press in 2006 on 1st October 2009. Later on 17th May 2010, President Barack Obama followed by the Pearl family, signed into law the Daniel Pearl Freedom of the Press Act.
Further in 2015, Schiff supported the Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen. Adam introduced bipartisan legislation to repeal the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists. Moreover, he has been a forceful proponent of debating and voting on a new war authorization against ISIS. From 2017-19, he was working in Trump-Russia collusion investigation as he was dealing with the inquiries related to Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, appeared on CNN’s State of the Union.
He had doubt on Trump so Schiff responded on Twitter that the president’s “comments and actions are beneath the dignity of the office”. On 28th March 2019, the nine Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee officially called for Schiff to resign due to his allegations that President Trump’s campaign colluded with Russian in the 2016 election.

Schiff’s beloved wife is Eve (Sanderson) Schiff. The couple met on a tennis court in Marina del Rey 1990 and married five years later on 19th February 1995. They have been together for more than two decades. The pair have two kids: Alexa Marion (1998) and Elijah Harris (2002).
