Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys says she has experienced sexism in the gaming world and has even tried using a voice changer.
Imane Anys, a well-known Twitch broadcaster known as Pokimane, ventured to Twitter to voice her main concern about playing Valorant.
She admitted that she didn’t speak much during the game.
She claimed she was treated differently in the neighborhood.
Partly due to her celebrity status, and partly due to the fact that she was a woman.
Pokimane isn’t the only one who has been bullied online because of her gender.
The gaming industry can foster a culture of misogyny toward female players, and it doesn’t help when women speak out about the harassment and bullying they endure on a daily basis. Instead, they are frequently subjected to increased criticism.
Many of her followers advised she attempt changing her voice when she revealed it on Twitter, and some even suggested software she could use while broadcasting.
The streamer began by saying that he had previously used a voice changer. She explained that she had stopped since it made her sound robotic.
Viewer for Inappropriate Comments on Hafu at Pokimane Schools
Many female Twitch streamers have attempted to bring attention to the shady and predatory behavior they have witnessed in their video game careers.
Pokimane discussed misogyny in the gaming community in one of her broadcasts, bringing attention to an event in which Rumay “Hafu” Wang, then 17 years old, received a lot of hate when competing in the 2008 Blizzcon regional final.
One of her fans was called out by the streamer for making disrespectful comments on Hafu.
Pokimane was offended and removed the viewer from her feeds.
“You are exactly the type of person we don’t want in my community, or in the gaming community in general,” she stated. “Calling someone who is under the age of 18 hot and justifying the fact that people are threatening to assault them is not a joke.””
The viewer referred to the moderator as “boring” for not allowing the comments and threatened to unsubscribe unless they were unbanned.
‘Do you think I care about your two-dollar sub?’ she continued. “Do you think that’ll persuade me that what you’re saying is correct? “I hope you’re kicked from the entire platform, my dude.”
Controversy regarding Pokimane’s lack of make-up
Pokimane has been the focus of numerous disputes in the past, including one stream in which she appeared without makeup. She received a lot of negative feedback, including being referred to as a “catfish.”
Her barefaced stream is still one of the top searched questions about the streamer in 2021, even though it has been three years since the scandal.
Because social media stars are constantly presented with cameras aiming in their direction, the majority of them prefer to wear cosmetics when being filmed.
Streamers, especially female streamers like Pokimane, are under a lot of pressure to appear a specific way all of the time.
The streamer shared photos of herself without makeup and in natural lighting, as well as a message to be kind to one another, on Twitter.
