This year’s Forbes list of world billionaires has a slew of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Kanye “Ye” West, and Rihanna.
On Tuesday, April 5, the American business magazine Forbes published its annual report on billionaires throughout the world, which featured some returning billionaires as well as entrepreneurs who reached the list for the first time.
Rihanna
Rihanna, 34, has joined the ranks of the world’s billionaires, becoming the first billionaire from Barbados, according to Forbes.
According to the magazine, the pop artist has a net worth of US$1.7 billion thanks to her Fenty Beauty cosmetics line and Savage X Fenty lingerie line. On this year’s list, she was rated 1,729th.
Peter Jackson
Director Peter Jackson, who directed the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit film trilogies, is another industry magnate who made the list for the first time this year.
According to Forbes, Jackson, 60, became a billionaire in November after selling his Weta digital film effects company to Unity Software for US$975 million. With a net worth of US$1.5 billion, he is ranked No. 1,929 on the list.
Of course, there were plenty of returning billionaires on the list.
Kardashian, 41, debuted at No. 1,645 on Forbes’ billionaires list on Friday, April 1, with a net worth of US$1.8 billion, after becoming a billionaire last year.
Her ex-husband, Ye, previously Kanye West, 44, was also named to the list after Forbes declared him a billionaire in 2020. He’s valued US$2 billion at No 1,513.
Other returning billionaires who made their fortunes in the entertainment industry include director Steven Spielberg, who ranked No. 801 with a net worth of US$3.7 billion; rapper Jay-Z, who ranked No. 2,076 with a net worth of US$1.3 billion; talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who ranked No. 1,196 with a net worth of US$2.6 billion; and filmmaker Tyler Perry, who ranked No. 2,578 with a net worth of US$1 billion
